Anne Weaver (All Hallows’ TL) Anne’s Blog for All Hallows’ and I will be setting up a ‘Makerspace’ for delegates to experience many of the wonderful challenges Makerspaces can present to students in the library or classroom.
Here is an Animoto promoting our makerspace,

Anne has an excellent post on how to start a makerspace on a very small budget AHS Makerspace. In this post Anne lists many great items which can be used to inspire students to start ‘making’.
The following link provides a number of apps which can be downloaded and used in the conference makerspace area. Apps for internet devices
All the activities on display are used in our makerspaces:

The following images are of the space ready to go and then during the event! Delegates ‘giving things ago’ or recording ideas……busy place.
Pic Collage to capture activities on display.
All delegates were invited and supplied with a shape to create a badge using a battery and LED light, the lights were dimmed and the effect was great!
The keynote speaker, Jenny Luca, was as engaging and thought provoking as always. She really is a must to follow https://jennyluca.wikispaces.com/ We were certainly challenged to think about how we are preparing our students for the future….an unknown and rapidly changing world!
Probably the highlight of the day was to be present as my #bestteachingpartnerever, Megan Daley received the Queensland Teacher Librarian 2015 Award.
Megan is truly amazing she does so much to promote children’s literature not only in our school but through her wonderful blog Children’s Books Daily , Brisbane City Libraries, the Ipswich District network and of course, 612 ABC Brisbane each month!
Such a busy lady …..and I’m lucky to work with her!
I felt the conference was well worth attending and hopefully it will continue as an annual event…..after all it was the conference Megan and I first spoke at about developing a MakerSpace Zone in our Library!!
