It was now time for us to promote our space to the rest of the school and to get the teachers behind what we were doing. Many of the teachers had seen the exciting ‘stuff’ the girls had made. This led to questions about what we had been doing in library lessons as the teachers do not attend. So, as part of the Geography assignment this term my Year 6 girls incorporated a ‘Maker Faire’ type morning into their unit of work. The girls studied the economic, social and cultural diversity of a S.E. Asian country in relationship to either trade, aid or tourism and its connections with Australia. The girls collected data and researched their chosen country and then created an Infographic using Piktochart. They designed activities, to engage younger students in the school, which had connection back to the country of study. There was a donation collected which is to support ‘Room to Read World Change Challenge!’
