Sharing at PEIC Computational Thinking Conference

imageWe were fortunate to share our journey and some fun activities at a regional conference held in Port Macquarie. Keynote speakers were Dr Rebecca Vivian from CSER Adelaide ( one of my favourite people in the world of Digital Technologies! and is part of the team running the best MOOCs ever!) and Dr Matt Bower talking about ‘What is Computational Thinking?’. Throughout the day it was obvious how computational thinking is in every aspect of our lives without even realising it! Both speakers referred to Jeannette M. Wing ” computational thinking is a way humans solve problems; it is not trying to get humans to think like computers”. This was demonstrated throughout the day as in each workshop ‘problems were being solved’!

After sharing our journey….Megan came in virtually using Skype! That was a first for us and it was fun! I set up the activities I had used during Grandparents Day. The delegates showed just as much excitement and challenges were overcome to ‘make’ things work.
